A variety of complete roofing samples, along with an array of wall construction examples, challenges you to identify appropriate construction components and those components that potentially increase combustibility of both roofs and walls. an environment with a closed-loop water system illustrates all aspects of electric/diesel fire pump operation, arrangement, testing, maintenance and performance measurement. flammable gas is replicated with a 15,000 gallon (56,781-liter) LPG-free tank, cylinder-filling operation, truck-unloading station and simulated propane-fired vaporizer. Dust hazards are also simulated, including a combustible dust explosion. Nondestructive examination (NDE) is a predictive maintenance tool used as part of a condition-monitoring program for any piece of equipment or process used in industry. Students use this lab to learn about common mechanical failures and NDE techniques to find cracks in boilers, pressure vessels and rotating equipment. you'll learn about the process hazards that may occur and how best to protect the facility against loss.

The SimZone is a warehouse-sized, state-of-the-art training facility and the cornerstone of FM Global’s Center for Property Risk Solutions. All FM Global engineers—and select clients—train at the SimZone to build on their expertise of inspecting facilities, assessing exposures, and helping our clients take active steps to reduce their risk. This unique training ensures that the FM Global engineer who comes to your facility carries the knowledge and critical thinking skills necessary to identify and manage risk. This training also grounds FM Global’s underwriting and claims process in a rigorous engineering-based approach.
Learn about the various hazards associated with electrical equipment, including indoor transformers and switchgear. Operable riser configurations offer a wide selection of wet, dry, deluge and pre-action systems involving different manufacturers' equipment and operation concepts, including specific maintenance and testing activities. You'll learn about the potential hazards associated with different types of industrial heating equipment and examine the safeguards built into each piece of equipment to ensure it's functioning properly. Learn what type of protection is needed for each type of container and storage arrangement. is a "wet-friendly" environment that demonstrates various sprinkler discharge characteristics and facilitates all facets of water-flow testing: hydrant, fire-pump performance, loops, hydraulic gradients, flushing investigations and dry-pipe, valve-trip testing.

The Wet Lab
Ten labs and learning areas (everything from an electrical lab to a steam and industrial heating lab) simulate property hazards, with hands-on training. Common hazards, such as fire, ignitable liquid, construction, equipment malfunction and electrical breakdown, can each be simulated in a protected environment.
